Update from the Board

As previous updates seem to have been welcomed, here’s the latest update from the Board of the Supporters’ Trust:

·         You may recall that as part of the Transfer of Ownership agreement, the Trust retained the right to have two Directors on the Board of the Football Club selected by the Trust Board. We are pleased that the EFL have now confirmed the proposed appointment of Arnie and Mike to those positions;

·         In line with the motion passed at the Special members’ meeting in April 2024 we have now published Trust policies on Transparency and Use of Finances as well as a plan for developing the remaining policies for the Trust.  All of these (including a further policy on Members’ benefits) can be viewed HERE.  We will continue to develop the remaining policies in line with that plan;

·         We have agreed with the Football Club that to be entitled to priority for tickets for home FA Cup matches, members will need to have joined the Trust before the date of the first round draw and have continuous membership up to the date of tickets going on sale for the relevant match.  This is to prevent people joining solely to secure priority and then immediately cancelling their membership - please make family and friends aware of this change;

·         We continue to have regular discussions with Huw Jenkins and Club officials to promote the interests of supporters and the Trust including on matchday experience;

·         We are working with the Football Museum of Wales to ensure Newport County AFC is appropriately represented when it’s new building opens in 2026.  If you have “items of interest” that you would be willing to donate or loan please contact us via info@ncafctrust.org;

·         We are continuing our efforts to raise the profile of the Trust including by being in the marquee on matchdays.  Please come and say hello if you’re going to the game against Crewe;

·         During October, we will be promoting the Prostate Cancer campaign, ‘Prostate United’ to raise awareness of and funds for Prostate Cancer within the football community. Look out for more information on our social media accounts over the coming days.

You may have seen that the Football Club is seeking a volunteer to act as Equality Lead to assist the Club to develop and promote Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) throughout the Club and its fanbase. (Click HERE for more info).  If you are interested in taking on this important role and making a vital contribution to the Club and the local community please contact info@ncafctrust.org or j.wilsher@newport-county.co.uk.

Thanks to all who attended the all-member meeting in August (either online or in person).  It was hugely useful for us to hear directly from you and is something we will definitely want to repeat.  We will let you know plans for further sessions and a date for the AGM in due course.

In the meantime, please do get in touch if there is anything you want to raise with us.

Best wishes and Up The County!

Kev, Arnie, Nic, Dug, Mike, Tony & Jayne
